Police said a man was charged after his toddler was found wandering the streets of Lexington in freezing temperatures early Friday morning.

Police said a passing motorist spotted the two-year-old boy in his underwear at the intersection of Whispering Hills and Camelot Drive just after 1:30 a.m.

The motorist called police.

Just a few minutes later, police said the child’s mother called to report him missing.

Police said the mother left the house to buy cigarettes and told the child’s father to keep an eye on him and a four-year-old who was also in the home.

They said the man fell asleep and the little boy left the house.

They said he was walking outside for about 10 to 15 minutes.

The child was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

The father was charged with wanton endangerment and possession of marijuana.
