Time Change Affect On Alcohol Sales In Lexington

Despite the change to Eastern Standard Time this weekend, alcohol in Lexington will still be sold until 2:30 a.m. Sunday.
The time change this weekend will impact alcohol sales in Lexington.

The change to Eastern Standard Time begins Sunday, November 3, 2013 at 2:00 a.m., which will effectively make the official time 1:00 a.m.

The selling or delivery of distilled spirits, wine and malt beverages shall continue in Lexington until 2:30 a.m., according to the Lexington Division of Police Alcoholic Beverage Control Office.

The 30-minute grace period for consumption of alcoholic beverages purchased prior to 2:30 a.m. still applies, according to police.

Lexington RCO 3-21 states, "the selling, giving away, or delivering of distilled spirits, wine and malt beverages shall not be permitted after 2:30 a.m."
