Three-Time Convicted Felon From Nicholasville Sentenced To Prison

Federal prosecutors said Troy Lee Mellott, 35, of Nicholasville, was sentenced to 15-years in prison for having a firearm after having been previously convicted of a felony offense.
Federal prosecutors said Troy Lee Mellott, 35, of Nicholasville, was sentenced to 15-years in prison for possessing a firearm after having been previously convicted of a felony offense.

Under federal law, convicted felons are prohibited from possessing firearms.

Prosecutors said because of Mellott's criminal history, he was classified as an "armed career criminal."

Prosecutors said Mellott admitted he unlawfully possessed a .380 caliber semiautomatic pistol that he pawned at a pawn shop in Nicholasville.
