Three people were treated for smoke inhalation following a late-night fire at a Franklin County apartment building.

The fire broke out after 11 p.m. on Meadow View Drive in Frankfort in the basement of the building.

The residents of all six apartments in the unit were out of the building when firefighters arrived.

Three people were treated at the scene for minor smoke inhalation but none had to be taken to the hospital.

The fire department said the residents of the building may be out of their apartments for a few days because of heavy smoke damage.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
