Thieves are continuing to steal copper wire in Fayette County. Copper wire was stolen from highway lights for the second time after being repaired last week.
Approximately 12,000 feet of wire was taken early Sunday morning sometime during the hours of 3:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. This latest theft occurred between Interstate 64 West to Interstate 75 North at the Southern Split.
The public is asked to be aware of parked vehicles or individuals around highway lights for no apparent reason. Citizens are encouraged to report any suspicious activity by calling law enforcement or the Transportation Cabinet at 502-564-2080.
