Thirty high school students from 21 schools across the state checked-in to the Kentucky State Police Academy in Frankfort on Thursday for the annual 'Drive to Stay Alive' program.
The program is a four-day defensive driving academy for teens that combine classroom studies and road course tests in an effort to reduce teen deaths on Kentucky roads.
Students attending the program are from the following counties: Anderson, Barren, Breathitt, Calloway, Carroll, Floyd, Franklin, Kenton, Knott, Knox, Lynn, Muhlenberg, North Laurel, Oldham, Pulaski, Spencer, Taylor and Woodford.
In 2011, there were 21,350 teen driving collisions resulting in 4,152 injuries and 63 deaths in Kentucky.
