The Jaws of Life didn't just help get a person out of a van after a crash Monday morning, they also helped unfuse two of the vehicles involved.
Police said the driver of a pickup truck ran into a car and then a VW van at the corner of Broadway and West Third Street just after 7:45 a.m.
Firefighters spent about 30 minutes cutting the driver out of the VW van, fire officials said.
According to fire officials on the scene, the driver’s leg was severely pinned in the wreckage, but he is expected to recover.
The driver of the car was also taken to the hospital, but fire officials said they had non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the pickup truck was uninjured in the crash.
After the victims were transported, two truck drivers and firefighters faced the task of cleaning up the wreckage and unfusing the van and the truck.
While the tow truck drivers were pulling on the two vehicles, firefighters had to use the Jaws of Life again to pull apart the two cars.
According to police officials, the driver of the truck admitted to running the red light.
