The price of gas in Kentucky just went up a little.
A tax increase went into effect today, increasing 2.1 cents per gallon.
The additional tax is automatic and will be tied to the wholesale price of gas.
Now, Kentuckians will pay about 30 cents in state taxes for every gallon of gas they buy.
This tax increase comes at a time when the prices of gas have been falling.
Right now, the average price for a gallon of gas in Lexington is $3.08, in Kentucky is $3.15 and in the country is $3.37.
