Sweet 16 Final: Madison Central Beats Ballard 65-64

Bosley hits game-winner with just two seconds left to lift Central to victory.
LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Ken-Jah Bosley's 3-pointer with 2.2 seconds left lifted Madison Central over Ballard 65-64 Sunday for the Kentucky boys' Sweet 16 state basketball championship.

The Indians (32-5), who had never appeared in a state semifinal before Saturday, made the most of their first title appearance, coming back from a big second-half deficit.

The Bruins (32-5) led by as many as 16 points early in the third quarter, but the Indians came back quickly and even took a 51-49 lead with 5:19 left in the game.

Ballard led 64-60 with 26.9 seconds left, and Dominique Hawkins quickly went coast-to-coast for a layup. After a timeout, Ballard threw its inbounds pass away and Madison Central gained control. Hawkins mishandled a pass his way, but Bosley recovered.

His heave from the right corner over two defenders clinched the win.

Hawkins finished with 21 points, leading the four-game tournament with 108 points.
