A man is in jail after a string of attempted home invasions in Laurel County Tuesday.

Jeffery Sasser, 48, was arrested just after 3:30 p.m.

The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office said Sasser attempted to force his way into a home on Brannon Mill Road using a rifle around 9 a.m.

They said Sasser ran off when the homeowner wouldn’t let him in, but then later tried the same thing at three other homes in the area.

Officials were out searching for Sasser later that day when they spotted him on Boggs Road.

Deputies said when officers approached him, Sasser ran into some woods then fought with the officers who chased him as they tried to arrest him.

Deputies said Sasser was carrying the gun allegedly used in the attempted home invasions, a Halloween mask, three knives, rope and duct tape.

Sasser is also a suspect in a violent home invasion from October of 2012. The victim in that case suffered serious injuries.

Kentucky State Police are also investigating to see if Sassed could be connected to other crimes in the area.
