Lexington Police said they've apprehended a man they believe to be behind a shooting early Tuesday morning on Saron Drive.

According to officers, shots were fired just before 1:30 outside of a Shell Station in the area.

They said 28-year-old Eric James saw their cruisers arriving at the scene and then took off toward a tree line.

Police said it took roughly an hour-and-a-half to comb the neighborhood before James was tracked down by K-9 units.

Although officers said James ran off again once he was spotted, the K-9 unit was able to subdue him until his arrest.

James was taken to UK Hospital with minor injuries and then lodged in the Fayette County Detention Center.

He's been charged with wanton endangerment, assault, providing a false name, and resisting arrest.

Police said no one else was injured during the incident, and no property was damaged by the gunfire.
