Suspect Arrested After Copper Theft

Police say they have a man in custody after a copper theft in Richmond.
Another copper theft -- this time in Richmond.

Police say someone stole an air conditioning unit from a home on Hawthorne Drive, and copper piping had been cut from under a mobile home at the same address. The total loss was about a thousand dollars, and it's not the first time something like this has happened.

Police say thefts of copper wiring, aluminum pipes, and steel from vacant lots in the same block total 16-thousand dollars.

Police say they have two suspects. and they've already arrested one of them: 27-year-old Gary Carney.
