Stolen Car Leads to Massive Search For Man With 7 Warrants

A man, with seven warrants for his arrest, led police on a massive manhunt after an officer spotted him on patrol.

A Lexington community was swarming with police as officers searched for a man with seven warrants for his arrest, police officials said.

Lexington Police officers on patrolled spotted Karlton Stigall, 22, and another person inside a car that had been reported stolen around 10:40 Wednesday evening, officials said.

The officer tried to pull the vehicle over, but the car took off, police said. Out of concern for safety, the officer did not purse the car.

Then, according to police officials, another officer on patrol spotted the car and began following it, requesting backup from nearby officers. When the two men spotted the police cruiser, they abandoned the car and ran.

Police officials called in K9 units and the Lexington Police helicopter to help find the two men.

K-9 tracking dogs were able to follow a scent to the Red Mile Apartments, almost 1/4 mile away from where the men ditched the car.

According to police officials, officers found blood at the apartment complex. Witnesses told police that they saw that one of the suspects had been injured.

Police officers searched the apartment building, but tell ABC 36, the men were not inside.

According to Lexington Police officials, they don't believe there is any cause for concern in the community.
