State Police said a Trooper shot and killed a man who pointed a gun at him.

State Police said it happened off of Galbraith Road near the East-West connector in Frankfort.

State Police said a Trooper responded to a 911 and when he arrived he saw a man standing over a woman on the ground.

The Trooper said when he got out of his cruiser, the man pointed a gun at him, at which time the Trooper shot the man, who died.

No names have been released yet.

The Trooper will be placed on administrative leave pending an investigation into the deadly shooting, which is standard procedure anytime a law enforcement officer is involved in a shooting.
