State Police Issue Phone Scam Warning

State Police are issuing a warning as the Better Business Bureau across the country warn of a rash of "one ring" phone scams.
Kentucky State Police are warning of a rash of "one-ring" phone scams reported by the Better Business Bureau.

An automated system will call your phone and hang up after one or two rings.

If you return the call, you will incur a fee of around $20 dollars with additional fees charged for every minute you are on the phone.

The Better Business Bureau says most of the calls originate from area codes in the Caribbean Islands.

If you receive a call from the following area codes, and do not know the caller personally, do not return the call.

Dominican Republic - 809

Jamaica - 876

British Virgin Islands - 284

Grenada - 473

Aruba - 297
