State Police Honor Fallen Trooper

Elmer Mobley, Jr. was killed in a car crash on May 28th, 1964 while responding to a call in Pike County.
State police in Clay County continued their annual observance of National Police Officer's Memorial Week by honoring one of their own at a wreath-laying ceremony at the Oneida Settlement School Cemetary.

Trooper Elmer Mobley, Jr. was killed in a car crash on May 28th, 1964 while responding to a call in Pike County.

He was traveling with Trooper Cecil Uzzle who was also killed when the car Mobley was driving hit some large rocks in the road that were hidden by rain and fog.

Mobley worked at the Pikeville post for four and a half years until his death at age 33.

Designation of a memorial highway in honor of Trooper Mobley's service is pending.
