State Help Paves Way For Tates Creek Sidewalk

The state is paying about a third of the total cost
Help from Frankfort paves the way for the Tates Creek sidewalk.

The state will pick up about a third of the tab to refurbish the sidewalk near Alumni drive.  It's designed to keep runners safe and help people with disabilities.

The plans also include new benches for public transit, and improvements for traffic signal safety.

Mayor Gray says it will cost $1.7 million.

"Now that is a lot of money, but this is a long sidewalk," said Mayor Gray.

The sidewalk improvements will cover about two miles, and should be finished next spring.
