'Stamp Out Hunger' Food Drive Makes Donating Easy

This Saturday, May 11th marks the 21st annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive, where mail carriers pick up donations as they travel their routes.
This Saturday, May 11th, letter carriers around the country will be collecting millions of pounds of food to help feed hungry Americans.

The 21st annual "Stamp Out Hunger" drive is a cooperative effort of the non-profit Feeding America and the National Association of Letter Carriers.

Last year, mail carriers were able to collect 70 million pounds of food.

Donating this Saturday is easy to do. Just leave a sturdy bag containing non-perishable foods next to your mailbox prior to your regular mail delivery time. Your letter carrier will pick it up as they complete their delivery route. The donations are then taken to a local Feeding America food bank or hunger-relief organization.

Some suggestions for non-perishable donations are canned soup, canned vegetables, pasta, peanut butter, rice, and cereal.
