Today, we find ourselves in the transition zone between drier air to the north and soaking rain to the south.  Southern Kentucky will be wet today with periods of light to moderate rain.  Areas near I-64 will see much lighter precipitation, with only a few occasional sprinkles or light rain showers, some light sleet pellets and a few snowflakes or flurries.  No accumulations are anticipated in central Kentucky.  Saturday will be a bit brighter with partly sunny skies, and a passing disturbance may spark an isolated snow flurry to the northeast.  High pressure will promote a partly sunny, pleasant Sunday with highs in the middle 40s.  Early next week, temperatures will warm into the lower 50s and rain showers will return as low pressure strengthens into the Ohio Valley.  The storm system will end with a few snow showers as colder air arrives at midweek.  The first day of winter will be Thursday, with partly sunny and chilly weather.
