Blood stain evidence and cell phone records played into day five of the Donald Southworth murder trial.

Prosecutors also called friends and aquaintances of Donald & Umi Southworth to testify Wednesday.

Donald is charged in the June of 2010 beating death of his wife.

Prosecutors showed the jury Umi and Donald Southworth's cell phone records.

They show Donald made some calls from his mobile phone around 3:30 am the morning of June 9 2010.

Investigators also testified that Donald had sent several text messages to his wife later that morning.

Umi was found badly beaten later that day.

Also on Wednesday, a business owner who knew Umi testified about how the couple came across in public.

WiWi Harrison said, "Normally Mr. Southworth did all the talking when they were together. Umi would sit there and do nothing unless she came by herself. Then she was actually quite talkative and talked about her problems."

A former waitress at Beef O' Brady's in Lexington said the Southworths were regular customers.

The waitress testified she served the family the night of June 8, 2010 and that Donald seemed agitated and in a hurry.

Analysts told jurors DNA found on Umi's nightgown matched Donald and a second, unidentified person.

But the defense argues that it could be an old stain of something such as saliva.

The trial picks up again Thursday morning.

The case could go to the jury as early as Friday.
