Soaking Rain Returns, Then Colder

Soaking rain will cross the area today before colder air returns tonight into tomorrow. More showers will cross southern KY on Friday.
Soaking rain will cross central and eastern Kentucky today, leaving 1/2" to 1" in most places, taking Lexington closer to the all time annual rainfall record.  Temperatures will waver in the middle to upper 50s today before colder and slightly drier air will follow tonight.  A new low pressure system will pass to our south tomorrow, and while most areas along and north of I-64 will be dry, a second batch of rain showers will cross southern Kentucky.  A few sleet pellets or snowflakes may mix with the showers in southern Kentucky before ending on Friday afternoon or evening.  The weekend will be seasonably chilly and bright, before readings climb back into the upper 40s for highs as rain returns early next week.  Colder air will follow on the heels of that system, and a few light snowflakes may fly as the storm system departs next Wednesday afternoon.
