There will be a political oddity for six central Kentucky counties in Tuesday's election.

Voters in those counties will get to cast ballots in two separate congressional districts.

The reason is a vacancy in one district and this year’s redrawing of congressional district boundary lines.

The 4th District seat is open following the July 31st resignation of Republican Geoff Davis, so there will be a special election in the old 4th District to fill out the remainder of Davis’ term.

The candidates in the fourth are Republican Thomas Massie and Democrat Bill Adkins, who will be on the ballot twice, in both the old and new 4th District so people in the 4th will be able to vote twice.

But there are six counties that are moving from the old 4th District into the new 6th District where Ben Chandler faces Andy Barr, so people in those counties will be able to vote in the special election in the 4th District to fill out the remainder of Geoff Davis’ term and then they’ll get to vote for either Chandler or Barr in the new 6th District in the General Election.

The six counties that were move all or in part from the 4th District to the 6th District are:

-Bath (part was in the 4th; all is in the 6th).

-Fleming

-Harrison (all was in the 4th; part is in the 6th).

-Nicholas

-Robertson

-Scott (part was in the 4th; all is in the 6th).
