It was part of the 6th annual “Shop and Share” campaign.

According to the Center for Disease Control, Kentucky ranks 11th in the nation in terms of people who have been abused by their partner.

The event is led by Kentucky’s First Lady Jane Beshear.

It’s a one day goods drive where people donate items and money to benefit Kentucky’s 15 domestic violence shelters.

In Fayette County, the Richmond Road Kroger had thousands of donations before noon, according to the store co-manager.

Since the “Shop and Share” campaign began, organizers said the event has raised more than $2 million for the shelters.
