Shocking New Details Revealed In Lexington Arson Case

Lamonica Hill is accused of giving her 12-year-old son as many as 20 sleeping pills before lighting their apartment on fire.
A Lexington mother is accused of giving her son sleeping pills before setting her apartment on fire in September.

Lamonica Hill was in court Tuesday afternoon. According to the Lexington Herald-Leader Newspaper, A Lexington police captain testified that Hill was distraught that her boyfriend had recently broken up with her.

According to police, Hill's 12-year-old son told them that she gave him as many as 20 sleeping pills before lighting the doorway to his room on fire. Her son says he woke up to his mother on top of him covering his mouth and nose. He says he was able to push his mother off and called 9-1-1. Police said they are attempting to retrieve a text message that Hill sent saying she wanted to kill her family.

Police said Hill originally told police that she set the while she was sleepwalking and dreaming about grilling out. The case has been sent to a Fayette County grand jury.
