Lincoln County's Sheriff is warning people of a mail scam.

Sheriff Curt Folger said people have received a letter in the mail stating that they had won a large sum of money through a lottery draw.

The winner is supposedly selected through a computerized draw system.

It states that the individual is entitled to a large sum of money and enclosed with a check that will pay the taxes on the winnings.

The letter tells the person to wait for further instructions in order to claim their winnings.

Don't fall for it!  The Sheriff said it is a scam.

The Sheriff said the bogus letter serves as a reminder to never give out personal or financial information to someone you don't know.

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

How can you win a lottery drawing you never entered?

If you feel you have been a victim of this scam, call the Lincoln County Sheriff's Department at 606-365-2696.
