Sheriff: Frankfort Teen Crashes After Pursuit

The Franklin County Sheriff says alcohol and speed may be a factor in a crash that happened after a high-speed pursuit.
A Franklin County Deputy was filling out paperwork around 1:30 Wednesday morning along U.S. 127 when his radar indicated a car traveling at 101mph.

The deputy chased the car and began to catch up when the driver, 18-year-old Matthew Lynn of Frankfort, spun out when turning onto Steele Branch Road.

The deputy reports the suspect then quickly accelerated onto Old Owneton Road.

The deputy decided the chase was not safe and ended the pursuit.

Sheriff Pat Melton says the suspect continued and half a mile down the road, lost control, and hit a tree.

Lynn was flown to the UK Trauma Center and as of Wednesday evening, was in serious condition.

Sheriff Pat Melton suspects alcohol and speed to be contributing factors in the crash.

Melton also stated that Lynn's license was already suspended from a previous DUI.
