Severe Thunderstorms Possible Overnight

Severe Thunderstorms Possible Overnight

A line of strong to severe thunderstorms will be possible for the early morning hours of Thursday.
Midnight Update: A line of severe thunderstorms has stayed well to our north, yet we are still monitoring the possibility for some thunderstorms to develop.  A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 6am, mainly for areas north of the Ohio River, yet the viewing area is currently not under any severe weather watches.  As a cold front approaches the region around 6am to 10am this morning, we can expect to have a line of thunderstorms and rain showers developing.  Rain is expected to linger into this afternoon, yet most of the activity will be diminishing.

We have the potential for severe thunderstorms overnight into early Thursday, with gusty winds being the primary threat. Drier, more comfortable conditions will return for Friday.

Tonight: The Storm Prediction Center has all of the viewing area under an enhanced risk for severe thunderstorms tonight, with widespread severe weather possible for Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio. The timeframe for having this severe weather move through, looks to be from 3am to Noon Thursday. Gusty winds, large hail, and an isolated tornado will be possible with any severe thunderstorms that develop. The primary threat area is for locations north of I-64.

Thursday: We will start the day off with scattered thunderstorms and rain showers, as a cold front approaches and moves through the area. As the cold front moves through around midday, we will have decreasing rain by the afternoon as drier air moves in behind the cold front. Thursday afternoon high temperatures will be around 80 degrees.

Thursday Night: Clearing skies will continue Thursday night, with a cool overnight low temperature of 57 degrees.

Friday: High pressure will build into the region, giving us plenty of sunshine for the end of the work week, with a pleasant high temperature of 79 degrees.

Weekend: We will start off the weekend will warm and sunny conditions, with a high of 83 degrees for Saturday afternoon. Father’s Day Sunday looks to be a little warmer, with a high of 85 degrees, with the chance for a few late day thunderstorms.

Next Week: Unsettled weather returns for the beginning of next week, with more rain and thunderstorm chances Monday and Tuesday, with highs in the lower 80s.
