A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for Lexington and areas to the north and west until 10 PM.  Garrard County is the southeastern corner of the watch.

A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for part of eastern Kentucky, from Estill County to Montgomery County to Fleming County, southeast to Letcher and Pike Counties from 5 PM this evening until 6 AM on Saturday.

We remain in a very warm and active weather pattern, with temperatures hovering in the lower 80s in most areas.  A round of strong to potentially severe thunderstorms will develop in the afternoon and evening, and some of these storms could bring large hail and damaging wind to central Kentucky.  Additional thunderstorms will occur overnight tonight, and into Saturday.  Derby Day will be very warm with highs near 83.  Scattered storms will linger through midday, but there is hope that in the late afternoon and evening, most of the showers and storms should be south of I-64, south of the Lexington and Louisville areas.  Isolated thunderstorms will still be possible at the Derby, though.  Most of Sunday will be dry with just isolated thunderstorms, but rain and storms will increase with a larger disturbance early next week.  A stronger cold front will suppress showers and storms to the southeastern part of the Commonwealth by Wednesday night and Thursday as temperatures return to near normal for early to mid May.
