The Kentucky State Senate gave the okay Wednesday for a proposed bill that would allow abuse victims with protective orders to apply for temporary conceal carry permits.

The vote was 35 to zero.

The proposed legislation now goes to the House, which already passed a similar bill.

The Senate bill would require background checks from State Police.

The goal would be to allow abuse victims to have quicker access to weapons, in order to protect themselves from their abusers.
