Kentucky Senator Rand Paul is becoming a serious contender for the 2016 Presidential Race.

The Republican Senator was the winner of the GOP's straw poll at the recent Conservative Political Action Conference.

Paul carried 25 percent of the vote but was followed in a close second by Florida Senator Marco Rubio.

Paul's father Ron won the last straw poll four years ago.

Rand Paul was quoted at the conference saying the "establishment" wing of the Republican Party was dead.
