Second Annual Kick Butts Day

The event was held Tuesday on the UK campus.
It is an event used to bring awareness to the issue of tobacco use and its impact on Kentuckians.

The second annual Kick Butts Day was held Tuesday, April 17 on the UK campus. Part of the day focused the number of people who lose their lives to tobacco.

One display showed white sheets covered with handprints, with each handprint representing five lives lost each year. There were also other ways to learn about the dangers of tobacco.

"This year we have more interactive games and we're trying to focus on the idea of making it educational, not just giving stuff away without an educational concept attached to it," said Fadya Lowe, a tobacco education specialist with UK Health Services.

One of the games involved UK pharmacy students kicking around a pack of cigarettes to demonstrate the "kick butts" message.
