Sears is coming back to Lexington.

The company said Tuesday that it plans to open a new store in the Tates Creek South Plaza.

The plan is to open at 4228 Saron Drive in mid to late June.

The store will replace the Sears that closed in Fayette Mall in Lexington last January.

Sears said last year that it was eliminating its store in the mall as part of a movement to streamline the company's business model.

The old store was staffed by 118 employees.

It was not known if the hiring process had begun for the new location.
