A search for an armed fugitive from Clay County spread into Owsley County.

The Clay county Sheriff says Quintin Metcalfe broke into multiple homes, and took anything he could get his hands on.  After almost making an arrest, the sheriff thinks Metcalfe escaped to Owsley County.

Metcalfe's grandmother, "My name is Juanita Davison, and I did not drive my grandson anywhere."

Wanted to clear her name.

The Clay County Sheriff says he thinks a girlfriend drove Metcalfe out of Clay county.

Davison says she wants her grandson in jail.

"Quintin, if you can see this just give yourself up, this is silly, you know you're caught so just walk in," said Davison.

Deputies responded to a reported break-in Tuesday.

They saw Metcalfe with a handgun in his back pocket and carrying a sawed off shotgun.  A property owner says he went up onto his land, dropped the gun, left his jacket, and took off into the woods.

When we saw it, there was still a glove in the pocket, a bandana sticking out.

The sheriff recovered the shotgun, but says Metcalfe still has the hand gun.

"He's just a career offender in my personal opinion. He's just out for no good," said Sheriff Johnson.

Sheriff Kevin Johnson says Metcalfe has a meth problem, and may have been stealing to pay for drugs.

We asked Metcalfe's grandmother if she thinks he's a good kid. And she said no.

She said they cut him off, he's on his own, and they just want him to turn himself in.
