Lending a hand at your child's school will cost money soon. Volunteers at Kentucky schools will have to pay $10 for a criminal background check if they want to help in the future. This may not seem like a lotm but critics say it may prevent low-income families from being involved in their child's school. The administrative office of the courts says the fee is the result of state budget cuts by the General Assembly. It's scheduled to go into effect July 1st.
