A Lexington school celebrated a major achievement Tuesday afternoon.

Seton Catholic School was awarded the 2012 Blue Ribbon School of Excellence Award. The award means the school is among the highest performing schools in the nation in math and reading. In the most recent year tested, scores for all tested grades three and higher had to be among the top 15 percent of scores in the nation.

The school learned they would be receiving the award back in September by the U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan.

Seton Catholic School opened in 2005, and has nearly 500 students.
