Sanitation Workers Vote To Unionize

On Tuesday, Lexington's sanitation workers voted to join a union, according to the Lexington Herald-Leader.
Lexington's sanitation workers have voted to unionize.

The Lexington Herald-Leader says Tuesday's vote involved 121 of the 165 waste management employees eligible. Of those, the vote was 95 to 26. A simple majority was needed.

The newspaper says the vote means the workers will join the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees, a union with 1.6 million members nationwide.
