Thousands of children will now have a gift to open up Christmas morning thanks to the Salvation Army's Angel Tree. The Salvation Army began distributing the toys Tuesday morning. Last week there were still more than 600 children on the Angel tree's list who had not been chosen. The Salvation Army said the community responded in a big way by donating toys and money so that they could go and shop for the rest of the toys. The Salvation Army said 5,187 children in Lexington will have new gifts under the tree in Lexington and their families will also have a hearty meal. The Army expects to serve approximately 6,000 children and over 3,000 families this Christmas in these counties.
