Franklin County Sheriff Pat Melton says extra traffic safety checkpoints will be in place on New Year's Eve in Franklin County and across Kentucky to help deter drinkers from driving.

The general manager of Bluegrass Cab says this is the busiest night of the year for the taxi industry.

They plan on making 1,300 trips tonight in Fayette County with the busiest time for calls coming in between 9 p.m. New Year's Eve and 6 a.m. New Year's Day.
