Safety Checkpoint Stop Leads To Drug Arrest In Laurel County

State Police said when troopers stopped Andrew Wilson, 30, of London, at a Traffic Safety Checkpoint in Laurel County on Sunday, they found a quarter pound of marijuana and cash in his vehicle.

On Sunday, June 30, 2013, State Police conducted a Traffic Safety Checkpoint at the intersection of US 25 and KY 909 in northern Laurel County.

During the Safety Checkpoint, at approximately 12:33 a.m., Troopers said they made contact with Andrew Wilson, 30, of London, operating a green, 1999, Jeep.

During the traffic stop Troopers said they discovered ¼ pound of processed Marijuana and cash.

Trooper Adam Childress arrested Wilson on the charges of Trafficking in Marijuana (less than 8 oz.) 1st Offense, Operating a Motor Vehicle under the Influence of Alcohol or Drugs and Failure to Notify Address Change to Department of Transportation.

Trooper Childress is continuing the investigation and he was assisted by KSP Sergeant Steve Walker, Trooper Jason McCowan, Laurel County Deputy Sheriff Justin Walker and Laurel County Constable Denver Mays.
