A crowd of supporters cheered tonight as Republican Vice Presidential Candidate Paul Ryan landed in Kentucky.

Ryan’s plane landed at 5:00 p.m. in Lexington, where he walked down the stairs and immediately began a meet and greet with nearly 200 supporters.

Students from UK, Transylvania and Centre College gathered along the fence and took pictures with Ryan as he passed.

“He looks like I kinda thought he would,” a Centre College student said. “I was super impressed by his casual cowboy boots and his khakis... He's super personable.”

Centre College has been busy preparing to host the debate. The students said today 100 Centre College students were chosen to watch the debate in person.

Republican Congressional Candidate Andy Barr of Lexington was also at the airport today to welcome Ryan to the Bluegrass State.

“I'm gonna tell him good luck, and I'm gonna tell him thank you for your service to our country,” Barr said about talking to Ryan. “I know he's going to represent us well and he's going to be an excellent Vice President.”

Barr added that the debate is a chance to see the candidates in an unfiltered light.

“When you see them in a debating position, unfiltered, having an opportunity to present their views,” Barr said, “That is a more enlightening insight into who these men really are, and what their positions are, and how they're going to solve the country's problems.”

And when asked if he thinks if the VP Debate will have an impact on voters, Barr said, “When you have 70 million viewers tuning in and watching these debates, I think it absolutely does matter.”
