Rowan County Couple Accused Of Endangering 9 Children

A Rowan county couple is charged after Kentucky State Police said their nine children were found living in deplorable conditions.

Police said they received a call Monday about several children at a home on Igo Road who were being abused and did not have any food.

The children ranged in age from two months to 17 years old.

Six of the children were taken to the hospital, where police said the two-month-old and another child were treated for dehydration and malnutrition.

The infant was also treated for hypothermia.

The four other children were treated and released.

The children's mother, Edith Strange, 34, was arrested and charged with wanton endangerment.

Police said the children's father, Johnathan Prater, has also been charged with wanton endangerment but they are still trying to locate him.
