Roots & Heritage Festival Celebrates 25-Years

This weekend marks the 25th anniversary of the Roots & Heritage Festival in downtown Lexington. The celebration of diversity will include music, art, crafts, food and education.
This weekend marks the 25th anniversary of the Roots & Heritage Festival in Lexington.

The festival, which celebrates diversity, was named one of the Top 10 festivals in the state by the Kentucky Tourism Council.

There will be art, crafts, food, music and education at the festival.

The Heritage Parade is scheduled for Saturday featuring the marching band from Bryan Station High School.

The parade will also honor African-American members of Lexington's Police Department.

Elm Tree Lane will be closed between Short Street and Fourth Street during the festival as well as other streets that intersect with Elm Tree Lane.

The festival runs through Sunday.
