Rocktopia Comes to Berea

Rocktopia Comes to Berea

The inaugural hard rock music festival is raising money to help the victims of the West Liberty Tornado.
More than 30 bands from across central Kentucky and as far away as Phoenix, Arizona and West Virginia were in Berea over the weekend for the innaugural Rocktopia Music Festival.

The proceeds from the event will go towards the victims of the March tornado that destroyed much of West Liberty.

Festival organizer Michael Wilkerson, a resident of West Liberty, says he decided to help put on the show because he felt not enough was being done for the people of West Liberty.

Wilkerson says the festival was originally scheduled to take place in August in West Liberty, but says complications arose with the local government and had to move the event to the farm of Blackii Whyte, just outside of Berea.

So far only a few dozen have showed up for the festival.

Wilkerson and Whyte both say they're going to continue to put on shows to help West Liberty, no matter how much money they raise at Rocktopia.

The festival goes on until 2am Sunday morning.

        Tickets are 15 dollars.
