A Madison County family wants to know what happened after they say a loved one was beaten to death in a Philadelphia suburb.

The family moved to Richmond from Bosnia in 1995 and say their son had a bright future.  They hadn’t heard from him since Thursday.

ABC 36 talked with Dino Dizdarevic’s little sister who is in Philadelphia.

“He was definitely the best person anyone could come in contact with,” said Una Dizdarevic about her older brother. “Sometimes we would just laugh at his laugh.”

He was a graduate from the University of Louisville who had moved to Philadelphia to be a chemical engineer.

Friday his sister said he was suppose to come home.  She was going to pick him up from the Cincinnati airport.

“Once the plane he was supposed to be on arrived and he didn't get off, that's when I started getting worried,” said Una.

She said the attendants at the desk told her that her brother never checked in to his flight and never got on the plane.

“I mean I didn't really have anything in my head I was just freaking out because I didn't know where my brother was.”

Una said her family hadn’t heard from Dino since Thursday.  She said his phone was turned off but she thought the battery had just run out.

When Dino did come home like planned, she went to Philadelphia to help look for him.

The Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office said Dino’s body was found in a Philadelphia suburb Thursday morning.

He was a John Doe until Una identified her brother’s body.

“It was definitely 100% him but he wasn't the same person anymore,” said Una who said her brother was brutally assaulted and strangled.  “We don't actually know who it was, we have no idea.”

She said her family is devastated with no news of an arrest.

“There’re really no words to describe how we're dealing.”

The family said funeral arrangements are still being made but it will be held in Richmond.

A memorial fund has been set up in his name.
