Richmond Man & Teen Duo Accused of Car Break-Ins

Richmond police arrested a 20-year-old and an apparent 17-year-old runaway they believed were tied to a number of car break-ins in the Brookline Subdivision.
Richmond police arrested a 20-year-old and an apparent 17-year-old runaway they believed were tied to a number of car break-ins in the Brookline Subdivision.

Officers received a tip early Wednesday morning about the break-ins and headed to the area. They said when they arrived at Tobiano Drive and Paso Fino Drive, they noticed two people running.

The runners were Daiquan Smith and the 17-year-old, both of whom were caught, according to investigators.

Police said they found credit cards and personal IDs on both suspects that were apparently stolen from one of the vehicles, along with a BB gun on the teen and a set of steel knuckles on Smith.

Smith was charged with theft under $500 and receiving stolen property under $500. He was lodged in the Madison County Detention Center.

The 17-year-old was charged with theft under $500 and receiving stolen property under $500. He was taken to social services, as he was a reported runaway from Indiana.
