A man accused of killing his mother and his girlfriend was supposed to go to trial next April.
Now, he won't.
The Madison County Court Clerk says John Payne pleaded guilty to the murders, during a hearing Friday.
Payne was accused of shooting his mother Cornelia Mullins and his girlfriend Meredith King in 2010.
Prosecutors were planning to seek the death penalty in the case.
It's not clear if this is a plea deal or if the death penalty is now off the table.
