A Richmond man who was under house arrest is now in the Madison County Detention Center after police said he ran off as they were visiting his home.

John Medley, 38, was under house arrest after being charged in August 2013 for drug trafficking and receiving stolen property.

When the Madison County Sheriff's Office went to Medley's home on Ballard Drive Tuesday afternoon, investigators said Medley ran off from officers.

Investigators said a Richmond Police officer later spotted Medley on Providence Road.

After a chase, police said Medley was ultimately caught on Fairlane Drive.

Police said they found over $5,400 on Medley when they arrested him.

He was charged with fleeing or evading police.
