Judge-executive Tim Conley was back in federal court Tuesday afternoon, hoping to have the restrictions of his house arrest relaxed.

Conley was allowed to visit the doctor and attend court appointments, but could leave his property more now.

A judge ruled that Conley's probation officer can now give him permission to run essential person errands and attend church.

Conley is still not allowed to have contact with other county employees, but stated in court that none attend his church.

The judge-executive also requested permission to visit friends and family in a West Liberty nursing home, but the judge decided not to rule on that request.

Conley is accused of soliciting and accepting kickbacks from a bridge contractor starting in 2009 and later misusing federal money given to the county after the West Liberty tornado in 2012.

Conley's trial is scheduled to begin on June 17.
