The annual “Read Across America” stopped at Fayette Mall today.

The event was sponsored by the Fayette County Education Association.

Organizers said it was a chance for children to learn to love reading and have their parents also be part of that experience.

Kids could get their picture taken with characters like the Cat in the Hat and Thing One and Thing Two.

There were also school performances and local celebrities read books.

Read Across America is a nation-wide event in celebration of Dr. Seuss’ Birthday.
