The Pulaski County Sheriff's Office is investigating what they called a case of road rage that left a truck driver critically wounded.

Investigators said a passenger in a car that was behind a tractor-trailer on KY 914 in Pulaski County grew increasingly agitated with the way the semi driver was driving.

Investigators said when the semi stopped at a light at the intersection of KY 914 and KY 1247 in Ferguson, south of Somerset, the passenger got out of the car and walked up and shot the truck driver with a handgun.

Investigators said the 35-year old truck driver, whose name wasn't released, was airlifted to UK Hospital in Lexington with life-threatening injuries.

Investigators said they took the accused shooter into custody, who was being questioned by authorities at the time of this writing.

The suspect's name wasn't released.

Investigators said the driver of the car at this point was being considered a witness in the case.  The car's driver was also being questioned by investigators.  His name wasn't released.

Investigators said they received the shooting call at 7:55 p.m.
